Genie Blocks^® can beautify and stabilize
a large property to resist major soil movements.

Genie Blocks^® are not only a fast and simple way to improve the appearance of your property, they can also play a huge role in safety by providing soil stability. This is of particular concern on steep properties, particularly those in areas prone to high rainfall or earth tremors.

The images below illustrate Genie Blocks^® used to create a five-stage retaining wall on a steep grade. All four walls were built in just 3 1/2 days by four workmen only.

BEFORE

The first stage of the project was to build a side wall on the parking area, and increase the height of the back wall. Behind the carport, and in the second photo, you can see the raw nature of the property as well as the grade.

DURING

The Genie Blocks^® were stable enough after 12 hours to allow the backhoe to work on the newly created level of the wall system. This is a visual testament to the strength of construction.

PLACING A BLOCK

A large retaining wall project such as this requires some special tools. For lifting the blocks, a backhoe was used in a dual role of land excavation as well as that of lifting and placing the blocks as is shown in the photo below.

Due to the size of the construction and the need to vertically fill the wall with concrete every six feet, a small cement mixer was required to keep up with the need for fresh concrete. For this project a 3.5 cu/ft mixer proved more than adequate for the task. Later the mixer was retained as masons grouted the wall and secured cap stones in place.

In the photo just above you see the backhoe placing a log in such a position
that the worker can guide it easily and quickly into its proper spot.

AFTER

The job as it looks now that the sod has been placed.
Truly a remarkable transformation from what used to be a dusty dirt hill!
